Driver Instructor Training in the Joondalup Region

Miro Training Centre is the leading training organization for Driving Instructors in the Joondalup region. Miro prides itself on providing the highest level of driving instructor training and will service all areas in the metropolitan area, no matter where you live.

The Joondalup region is a fast growing area and the demand for more and more people to be getting a licence to drive, whether it be a car or motorbike is growing every day.

Miro Training Instructors tend to be the preferred choice by people looking for a driver instructor qualification, because the training is so thorough. This attention to detail, making sure the instruction is the very best it can be is born out in the results that Miro trained instructors achieve under examination.

Driver instructor certification is achieved by the completion of a Certificate IV in Transport & Logistics (Driving Instruction) and Miro is looking forward to serving the Joondalup community in providing highly qualified and friendly driving instructors, who will be ready to serve the youth of the community to become safe and responsible drivers.

Beware of unqualified driver instructors because WA is the only State in Australia that doesn’t require a formal qualification. At Miro training we do!

  • A 2-3 week intensive theoretical and practical sessions
  • 5 x 1 hour instructional sessions
  • 3 major assignments
  • Experience with REAL learner drivers

During the theoretical and practical session of the course, you will work with a qualified driving assessor with over 17 years’ experience with the Department of Transport (DOT). You will be taught how to use the Practical Driver Assessment form (PDA) to assess to a standard, to ensure your clients are ready for their own driving assessment. In addition in learning what is necessary to become a driving instructor, Miro Training Centre go the extra mile, and teaching you the foundations of running a successful driving school business, such as training in understanding how people learn, insider tips on working in the industry, insurance costs, dual control factors and OH & S requirements. During the course there will be homework to complete, so be ready to put in extra hours at home.

Course specifics

Courses are held on a regular basis throughout the year, with a new course starting on average every 3 weeks. This certificate is a competency based course and therefore the course duration is student based learning and is run until competency is achieved. The course has 4 theory days interspersed with 7 practical days followed by a practical assessment day. With prior arrangement courses can be scheduled out of normal working hours, but this will generally be for groups of three or more people, and higher fees may apply.

Competency is assessed throughout the course through your facilitator. At the end of these 2 weeks, they will decide with you whether you are ready to sit the practical assessment.
The practical assessment involves teaching someone a selected uver, a narrative drive where you will talk your assessor through how you drive, followed by an assessment of your personal driving course. The approximate time for this is around 2.5 hours.

At Miro we encourage you to complete your assessments within 2 weeks of finishing the intensive course work, however, we are here to help you on your way. If you are struggling, please call us and we will do everything possible to help you on your way.
